GPTBot is the crawler OpenAI uses to read public web pages for ChatGPT. Sites control its access through robots.txt: allow it and your content can inform answers, block it and you are invisible to ChatGPT. Many sites block it without realising, often through a firewall or CDN rule, which is one of the most common reasons a brand never gets cited.
