When AI Agents Go Shopping: What Stripe's Move Means for How You Present Your Business
The buyer is changing
Stripe is working on letting AI agents buy cloud infrastructure on their own, without a human clicking through a checkout. That is a significant shift. Right now most business websites are designed to persuade a person. If agents start making purchasing and sourcing decisions, the thing that matters is whether your offer is legible to a machine, not just appealing to an eye.
What this means for being cited
AI answer engines already read your site the way an agent would: looking for clear, structured information rather than polished copy. A pricing page with vague language, buried terms, or no obvious structure gives an AI nothing to work with. Businesses that want to be named and cited should treat structured, factual content as a baseline, not an afterthought. If a machine cannot parse what you do and what you charge, it will cite someone who made that easier.
